What are your thoughts? Pros? Cons?

I don't think I'm old enough to be able to foresee the less obvious effects of a 4 day work week, but I think a four day school week would be cool. I spend half of my time in-class goofing off, since I'm usually done everything, or the teacher's attempting to teach common sense. "So, if rock layer "A" is below rock layer "B", which is youngest?" It's like "Do they really think this needs to be taught? Do they actually believe we're that stupid?". Anyway, I digressed from my original topic.

Enlighten me, as to the effects it might have on you, your income, enjoyment of life, etc.

I like school, so I could care less.

I'm studying for a Digital Electronics exam inbetween posts. :) Studying the physics of an n-channel enhancement mode metal oxide semiconductor field effects transistor, or NMOSFET for short, is quite dull. I'll be so glad to finish this semester. Only two more to go after next week.

A four day work week would mean smaller paychecks. :(

True, but more time to enjoy life. I can proudly say I know what a MOSFET transistor is. LOL. If I can't see what's going on by taking off a case, it's "magic". I can wire up some transistors, caps, LED's, and some resistors so they flash intermittently, but nothing more advanced than that.

A FOUR day work week, would be horrid. Unless you were making any where from 20-40$ an hour, honestly. I mean, working four days a week, eight hours a day is only 32 hours. So unless you're making GOOD money, you're fucked. You'll always be broke. So yeah, not a very good idea. A normal five day work week is fine, you work for five days, you're off for two, you do it all over.

Unfortunately, the real world does not allow the majority of employees the opportunity to work a four day week. If you do come across such an occupation like that, I suggest you hang onto it for grim death.

I agree wholeheartedly with Big! The less you work the less you earn.

Now if a 20% raise came with the 4-day work week then it would be worth considering.

Well, companies could have people working different 4 day weeks. Maybe, yours starts Monday, and the next guy's starts Wednesday. That would come with some drawbacks, though.

At the moment I'm working on a one day a week work turn up, now, if I can only cut back on my hours. Any thoughts :)

The longest week I've ever worked was 10 days. Gosh that was fun.

a 20% reduction in working days with a 25% raise in pay is what you're looking for

as for the original question. i like the idea, i'd rather more time free to just enjoy myself, but it's conditional on whether i could afford to live comfortably from these 4 days.
