I've always liked it, but now I wan't to really pursue some stuff in it. i was wondering if anyone could tell me who they think is really good. i like stuff like damien marley and stephen marley.

id just say the entire marley family. Some have different vibes to me. Like i think Kymani is different than Bob and they are both different than damien.

And for current stuff (i know its mainstream but) matisyahu is the best damn jewish regae ive ever heard. And 311 has a great regae/rock fusion going on

to clh's point, the entire marley clan: damien, kymani, stephen, ziggy all have their own thing going on...chances are, if you like one you'll probably like the others even though they all bring a diff. vibe to the table. aside from that, i really haven't given a lot of current reggae much stock because so much of it is completely derivative...

as for old stuff, pick up any greatest hits collections from some of these:
peter tosh
burning spear
inner circle (make sure it covers the 70's era and not the 90's)
wailing souls
third world

Try the greatest hits of Steel Pulse, ,Black Uhuru, Bunny Wailer, Israel Vibrations. Try this album by Pato Banton - Never Give In. This is all older stuff.
