i mean instrumentals that have been made deliberately to just be listened to as instrumentals, so theyre more complex than normal beats really

I bought the Special Herbs boxset (vol. 0-9) last week, it arrived on Thursday. I'll up it for you if you want, mega?
I havent really listened to it properly yet, I only really got it because I want to have hard copies of all of Dooms albums (Operation Doomsday is a nightmare to find though).

mega have you checked out madlib? He has some instrumental albums (shades of blue http://www.albumwash.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif, beat konducta vol 3+4 I think, and like a reggae one called Blunted in the Bomb Shelter). Im still looking for beat konducta vol. 1+2. J Dilla im sure has some instrumental albums aswell. Nujabes are kind of chill out music with a hip-hop beat, some of his tracks are instrumentals.
You have probably got all these albums but though id mention them just on the off chance :)
Ive downloaded copies of The Main Ingredient (Pete Rock and C.L.) and 93 til infinity and got the instrumental versions instead before. I think I deleted them cos I was only after the full albums though :(

i actually dont own them albums, ive got some black milk and dilla, no madlib tho, my taste is really weird no joke lol
il go from souls of mischief then put on 50 cent or somethin lol
i spose the only "saving grace" is that i know wot 50s about, i know hes doin it all wrong lol
i jus think hes funny as fuck

Nah each to their own. I can listen to 50 aswell, I dont mind tracks like 21 Questions and If I Cant. I used to listen to Dre and Snoop alot, and just buy the Westwood albums when they were in the charts lol so all I knew hip hop wise was Wu-Tang, Ja Rule, Redman, DMX etc, but its only recently ive started checking out the lesser known (well in this country anyway) artists. A year ago I wouldnt even know who J Dilla, Doom, Madlib etc even were. Im by no means an expert or anything, its all new to me. My mate was taking the piss out of my ipod cos he hadnt heard of anything apart from the indie/rock/bob marley on there :D

and with 50 and eminem these days i pretty much only listen to diss tracks
i meant more like, i can listen to kanye then go on to esham or gravediggaz or somethin lol
i was pretty much the same as you tho, wen i was real yung only knowing a few, like dmx, dre, snoop, redman, eminem, xzibit, of course ja rule too yeh, tho i didnt like him, then like 2pac an them too, duno who else, kurupt,

No worries, like I said I just linked it, im going to upload some myself tomorrow.
Shades of Blue has more of a bluesy feel to it with jazz flutes and shit like that going on, but madlib putting his twist on it. Its worth it for the first track alone, "Slim's Return". Havent listened to it all yet myself though.
