well not long I do produce my own music.I use Cool Edit Pro and FL Studio for beats.I haven't really got into all the keyboards and drum machines.So I'm really a ghetto producer!lol.But I can rap n stuff.How bout you?

yeh i only just started too, i think about 2-3 months ago i first started, im using adobe audtion and FL studio aswell, im lookin to maybe start playing with cubase and/or reason,

i just wanted to get this thread going for any problems or questions people may have, cos im pretty new, and i get stuck still, also to put beats up to get discussiion, help, ratings etc etc

so fire away if you got anythin for me an il do the same, but for now im out, peace

i'm looking into learning reason. luckily my friend who i live with studied music at college and so knows how to use it quite well - plus he bought a MIDI keyboard the other day :D dunno whether to start sampling shit or making shit myself - problem is though i know a good beat i have very little formal musical knowledge

we've made a few beats together but like he handles all the stuff on reason and we come up with ideas together. he's like my work horse hahaha

nice, i think your gonna sample shit in the end, even if you just creating a melody with the sample, or sampling snares etc
i think sampling is fun, its probably easier to get in to sampling too, i think it is anyways, i downloaded an Ahmed jamal album the other day, on the first track i was like constantly stoppin the track stealin parts, and on the second track was the main part of "soliliqouy of chaos" from gang star/premo

you should put a couple up for us to check out too

yeh a lot of people say that, im currently trying to find a copy of reason, i used it for a bit before, but felt fl was easier to use for a beginner, so i learnt the ropes on FL, but yeh im tryina get a copy to use now

thanks man, i think if i was gonnna do it again i would speed up the tempo and make some changes, but other than that i think its too basic, it needs to change up somewhere
