A witness in the murder of beloved hip hop pioneer Jam Master Jay, real name Jason Mizell, has finally stepped forward and brought new details to the October 30th, 2002 homicide.

Uriel Rincon, who was with Mizell on the night of the shooting, spoke publicly for the first time regarding the legendary DJ's death.

According to The New York Daily News, Rincon and Mizell were sitting on a couch in the studio playing video games, Rincon says Mizell placed a gun he had been carrying on the arm of the couch before the two masked assailants entered the studio.

Rincon, who was shot in the left leg tells The New York Daily News that Mizell was shot as he [Rincon] reached behind the couch looking for his cellphone. When he turned around, Mizell was on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head and he saw a man with a dark sweater running out of the studio.

Rincon believes the Mizell may have known his shooters and didn't view them as a threat.

Damn, that's shitty he waited so long. Why wouldn't you come out and say something ASAP? Pretty shady, if you ask me!

Mizzel = Jam Master Jay, Hippo. Rincon said that JMJ put his own gun on the arm of the couch.
