I just finished rewatching V for Vendetta. Great movie. Quite thought provoking. It raises some interesting questions which deserve consideration, one of which is "if our own government was resonsible for the deaths of a hundred thousand people, would you really want to know?"
A few other things I noticed in this movie:
- There are no cars.
- The fictional government attempts to use media scare tactics to gain support of the people. (Seems familiar)
- Repeated references to "The Reformation" which leads you to believe there was a crackdown on dissidents.

One of the best movies ever.
And yes there are cars. What's his name... The cop guy (Finch, or something like that)... He's in a car a couple times.

A lot of people I know watched this movie then got all paranoid. It's a good movie, but I think it should be kept in that context, it's fictional.

Ofcourse it's fictional, but it brings up alot of interesting ideas. You know me, APOF, I don't suffer from paranoia, I don't believe the government is out to get me. Yet, the question I posted above, is similar to the one raised in The Matrix thread, do you want to live in ignorant bliss or suffer the torment that comes with truth? I would choose the truth anyday.

the only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance, or at least that's what Socrates claims.
I would rather know the truth than live in a fantasy world as well. I could use the knowledge about the situation to possibly change it, but if you live in a fantasy you don't even know there is a problem.

the reformation was evident throughout the movie actually. doesnt lead u 2 believe. its pretty evident. i got more from the movie than ur question though about wanting 2 know bout if the govt killed thousands. cuz we know already what the govt is capable of.

you know V for Vendetta is really linked to when the vatican tried to gain control of England again because it swayed away from catholicism so o nthe 5th of november a long time ago the vatican hired someone to blow up the parlament in england to gain control back.
interesting.

That is interesting. I didn't realize that reference in the movie was based in fact.
