View Full Version : Rate the music?

I realize you can rate a thread, but it seems like no one does it. For me personally, I dont correlate a threads rating to how good an album is, anyway. I think being able to somehow rate the available albums would be a good way for people to try new music. As much as I would like to just download a random album and listen to see if its good, I don't. This could help encourage me to try new music:)
Perhaps have some statistics such as "Most downloaded album" or "Highest rated" etc., although this could also backfire and have people try new music even less...
Edit: I dont know how easy this is, but can you have the site possibly make recommendations for you based on what you have already have downloaded ala something like last.fm?

Just sort of brain storming here. Feel free to shoot the idea down or improve upon it.:p

It COULD turn out to be a potentially "good" idea. But, I don't think very many people would actually use it. Considering that half of the time, people can't even hit the "thank you" button on the page. And, also I believe on the main download site, there is a "most downloaded" board, to show you what's been the most popular.

Yeah, i figured it would be kind of hard to implement a good system where people would want to participate. But I can still dream...

Yeah, you can. But dreams get shattered. Sorry, friend.

which is most often a jay z album (which is the last person i want to listen to)

i like the idea in the forums instead of the main site because less people use the forums, and i actually trust their opinions while even more use the main site.
