Why are most the links rapidshare, out of curiosity? Why isnt there mix between them and megaupload? Rapidshare restricts me during/after downloading, so I have to wait a few hours before trying to download again.

The main reason is that RS offers bonus points that can be converted to free monthly premium accounts for the up loader and coupled with good upload speeds makes it a pretty hard combination to beat.
That is why the majority of links that are found are on RS and not other upload sites.
I know people complain about rapid share's time restrictions on using their free service, but what really needs to be considered is the up loaders needs, after all, they provide many Albums and Movies to the net, they are the ones who do all the hard work and as such, should expect to get something in return, free premium accounts and good uploading speeds is a good start.
I for one am grateful for these individuals taking the time and effort to upload, regardless of the upload site they choose to use.

RS is the most popular p2p file sharing sites in the world, especially in our world(net world)
RS gives points to members who have a RS account therefor the more you upload, the more points you get and the more you don't have to wait for downloads and all that
RS SUCKS left balls sacks but if you have a RS account, it's the greatest thing ever.
Though there is MANY ways to get around the time limit, search AW and you will find many ways of destroying that time delay

RS is great if you have an account, infuriating if you don't. These limits are only really an issue if you want to download multi-part items. If it's just an album you want for example, surely there's no harm in waiting a couple of hours for the next one.
On a sidenote, I have noticed that their timers are slightly less than truthful.

SIMPLE: RapidShare is basically the best file hosting site out there.
Most uploaders have a RapidShare account, hence it's popularity. As far as I am concerned, both megaupload and RapidShare suck for free users.
The best thing you could do for yourself, truly, is buy an account, unless your using www.mediafire.com
Cos they are the best file hosting service for free users.
There are many reasons why RapidShare is better, and until you get an account and see it for yourself, its kind of useless explaining. :)

I'm pretty sure mediafire seems to own the others. What would rapidshare/megaupload better than mediafire?

It depends. I will soon have another RapidShare account, so it works well for me. But I tend to use mediafire a lot too.

Aye, that's what I used to do, but I'm living on campus, and they block torrents here. However, I don't have to worry about the RS restrictions now. :)

Torrents are only good if you grab the newest material as soon as you can. If you want something older, the chances are its dead already and you wont get it, hence servers such as rapidshare come out on top even so. I do have to admit though, I was only able to grab "The-Dream: LoveHate" album from a torrent. No one had it uploaded on a server at the time I downloaded it.

Demonoid wasn't private.
As opposed to open source tracers, Demonoid was by invite only, which pretty well made it private and unless you were a member, trackers were not available to be downloaded by non members and if you were a non member trying to download a Demonoid tracker, you got a message to that effect.

Question: How many bonus points do you need to get a free month?

It wasn't entirely invite only, but I'm just being pedantic. ;)

It was originally every Friday, then I think they changed it to something like 3 consecutive days in a month, or something similar.
