I've been trying to download some movies from the site.

So for example, lets say there was a file on megaupload that was 500mb in the file description, it downloads, it even says when the download it complete that it completed all 500mb but in reality when I check the file's properties, the file size is much less...around 259mb or so.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with my computer, not the file or anything. But I just don't understand why it doesn't download completely. I've been searching around and I think I might need a download manager or something. I would like to resolve this problem, somehow without downloading partial files all the time. BTW, when downloading music albums, I have NO problems downloading whatsoever. It seems that this problem only seems to consist with large file sizes. Any suggestions or help would aid in my rescue! :)

Thanks Again

when that used to happen to me, it was the upload that was the problem.

and when i downloaded from somewhere else.. it worked fine. get yourself a new set of links and try from there. to me, its the upload that is the problem, and the upload wasnt uploaded properly, and thats why it does that (at least, that is how it seemed for me). other than that, it might be your internet connection, or how much space you have left on your local c drive or wherever your saving the file. check the space on your harddrive first. and if thats not the problem, get some new links.:)

Thanks. I'm probably going to try a few more downloads with different links and see how it works then. An additional piece of information that I left out was that I am directly downloading the files to my usb w/ 1.0 which has 2gb of space (if that might be an issue).

Without saying what site your downloading from, it is impossible to try and answer your question. Simply put, although some download sites will allow uploads of say 500 mb, they will not allow the down loader to download from that site the full download without having an account with them.

You may also have to consider if they site allow a download to be "resumed".

So you see without knowing the site your talking about, it is really all pie in the sky stuff.

And to use megaupload as an example, see their FAQ

If the file you are trying to download is larger than 500 MB, you can only download it with a premium account. In this case, you will see a "Download with Premium!" message.

Every upload site is different in their "Free Service" downloading allowances.

Just for the reference it was with megaupload, and NO I do not have any account with them. Still the 500mb in theory should still be able to be downloaded, still I will try what 'shifted' suggested and check other uploads as well as other things mentioned. I will get back to this thread after I do some more research on my part and see if the problems continue.
