Seeing the loss of some members post counts made me lol tbh - did the same thing happen on albumbase or was threatened to and people started all waaaaa waaaaaaa haha

Anyway it made me wonder about post stats, the stuff it tells you at the top when you log in

It gives an idea in what section your most active and how often you contribute

No body lost any posts. The posts are still there. They just do not count towards your post tally.

More Information:

The post count is indicative of a persons ability to make helpful, informative and useful posts.

The post count is not to be used as a measure of how many useless posts a person can make to increase their post tally.

You do not get recognition for spamming or carrying on a chit chat in areas whereas a simple http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/9213/quickreply025af7.png would suffice.

To get 1PPD, I need to have made roughly (38x365) posts, which is a rather large number. :p

Some things you should be aware of when looking at post count or the calculations the system uses to get your statistics.

1. Until a forum maintenance program is run, counts may differ slightly due to the removal of some posts since the last recalculation and where the posts may have been moved to or simply deleted.

Update Post Counts

This will recalculate all of your user's post counts based on their CURRENT posts in the database.

To use TheHitMan as an example.

Days since joined 54
Number of posts 169
Average. 3.12 posts per day

Although the average post count shows 3.25, being a higher figure, this is due to some posts being moved and deleted, this can only be adjusted by running the post count script once again to recalibrate each users statistics to adjust for deletions and administrative moves.

I know of no computer system that is 100% accurate, in your particular case, you also have to consider that you had a problem a while back with your login details, those changes to reinstate your user details may have caused this problem to your stats, I do believe the coders had to change some details to even get you back.
