Okay guys.
I'm addicted.
Addicted to Outkast. And i wanna know if there's any other artists out there that have the same style as them. Cuz if there are, I need to hear that shit. Preferrably something that sounds like the Stankonia album?:^_^:

outkast is pretty unique, what is it you like about them? i cant think of anyone off of the top of my head who sounds like them. so if you name some traits or characteristics of their style on that album then it would be easier for people to give you artists to check out.

I really love the "Ms. Jackson" Track. To me, that song defines rap/hip hop or whatever you wanna call it.
So listen to that track, and see if there's any other artists you know of with the unique elements withing that song.
Thats kinda what I should have asked at first :p

:lmao:

dude, ms jackson is so pop its unreal.

andre 3000 models himself on prince, big boi is very generic. dont get me wrong i love outkast, but they are a lil out there, i mean look at the speakerboxxx/love below album, that shit was mad different, and the pink half was very heavily influenced by prince.

im not really sure of other acts like them, but i think thats why they have so much appeal because they are an act of their own!

lol, sorry no offence, but over here that tune became really cheesy and ud hear it out at cheese club nights and all over the radio again and again, so it just to me seems like one of the furtherest examples of real hip hop and rap.
nah i dont really know many other people who have their kinda style, but dont they have like a lil collective of dungeon family (or summin like that) rappers? if so, maybe check them and their affiliates out.

got another question.
on the Rich Boy track called "Throw Some D's"
towards the end of the song,
there's a guy with a voice i really like
and his lyrics in the song are
A lot of hoes give me they numbers but I never call
A real O.G. look at V.I.P. and see a nigga ball
Then after we hit the club baby then I'm gonna hit them draws
I'm gonna break you off (and that's all)
Every freak should have a picture of my dick (on they wall)
Polow be the shit, zone 4 be the click
Yeah this for my dawgs
Yeah gangsters, hustlers, wanksters, busters
(Wait a minute motherfucker)

the bolded italics ones.
listening to that song reminded me of Ms. Jackson
which made me start this thread.
haha
does anyone know who this guy is?
:)

"Polow be the shit, zone 4 be the click"

says it right in the verse. "polow" he is not a rhymer to my knowledge i think he just makes beats and that was just a little something something. i have never heard of him on anything but that track.

ms jackson is a classic for me.
kinda like the super popular nelly song from the country grammar album.
i was so young when it came out, but i loved it cuz it was different than the music i usually listened to.

Ms Jackson is 10x better than those two, originality and integrity is key. Can't stand that easy money music, fuck a rick ross and chamillionaire.

you must be right, the last i heard outkast were working for free

rick ross and chamillionairre >> 99% of underground rappers

i really don't understand all those popular rappers. i mean, i do like Drake and Lil' Wayne, but my reason for liking Lil' Wayne is cuz he's weird. and plays around with genres and has a really rough voice. which is what i like.
i guess i just don't understand whats cool about the N word, what's cool about getting out of the ghetto, getting signed to a record deal and all the sudden you're a true gangster. fuckin bitchez n gettin money right? pahaha.
their lyrics make me laugh.

It's not about that, it's about the creativity and love for the music, Outkast atleast act like they give a fuck about the music they put out. Plus they don't need to hop on the bandwagon of shallow and uninspiring music to get paid. And i don't even like Outkast as much as everyone does (especialy their latest works), but atleast i can respect them for having some integrity. Rappers like Rick Ross or Chamillionaire are cheating real lyricists and musicians out of their money with their bullshit rap and "clubbangers".

And imma let that other comment slide lol, i thought you were into underground artists aswell btw?

forgot bout this one.......im not in to any one single type of music
i will listen to anything, i came up on underground hiphop but i listen to classical, jazz, pop, rap, rock, computer game soundtracks, anything that evokes an emotion

ask jedi mind tricks to write a chorus that millions will be repeating, it wont happen......likewise, ask rick ross to write something thought provoking, it wont happen........both are jus differnet styles.........what rick ross is doing with his trap muzik style is no different to what RZA did with the wu....just creating a character in a fictional entertainment soundscape

but the reason i say rr & cham > 99% was because, i think it would be harder to do what they do in creating catchy songs then it is spit monotone over sampled beats
