Noice!!! :winner: AFL is not that big here, this is Rugby country, but I got to like it in the few years a spent in Tasmania, and the games are always on here. That's a very nice clean mark..

No no it's all in the rules greddie. You cannot touch another players back or use a players back to climb to the mark, unless that other player is a moaning pom or a bludging kiwi. It's all there.. :D I played for two seasons and that was the way the rules went in rural Tasmania.
Seriously though, you can't run up someone's back, or use someone's back to gain a height advantage in anyway, and the bloke in that vid doesn't either. He jumped way early too, so he was up before there was anyone there to jump off. It looks weird, but, even slowing it down, it looks nice and clean to me. Fairdinkum mate!!

im not that in to rugby, but afl i think i could get in to, it looks a little more like soccer
i went to ireland when i was younger to visit family and they had a game called gaelic football which was like a hyrbrid of rugby and soccer, they use round ball like soccer too, i didnt play it but it looked immense

edit: i forgot to mention, i think you get (for example) one point for kickin it over the posts and say 2 points for scoring past the keeper in the goal, or the other way round, something like that

Gaelic and Australian Football are closely related, and the two countries have an Irish/Australian playoff, one test each in each code as a kind of World Championship. Aussie always wins.
Aussie rules is played on a huge oval, usually somewhere used for cricket in summer, 150 x 135 metres or close. Four quarters, twenty minutes plus time on, 18 players on the field for each side with four interchange players on the bench, and, it is fast man.
I played Rugby League, and Soccer as a kid/teen, just an accident of birth really. I grew up in a city Rugby League burb, rather than a Union area, where they jog around in the mud and lie on each other, and I was in our college 1st soccer 11, a star defender in the countries number one high school team, so when I was in Tasmania I fancied myself as being pretty fit, but man, that game runs you totally ragged. Games can last almost two hours, and by the time you are halfway through a game you suddenly realise how insane this friggin game is.
You run... hard, really hard for the whole game, on a very big field. It's like Basketball on a huge scale with an oval ball, that's why the players are often tall, great streaks of weasel piss, bastards just fall over and stand up and they've beaten you there already.
There are four posts at the narrow ends of the oval. Two taller central ones, kick a goal between them and score six points, and two more outside the tall two. One point for those. The ball has to leave your foot to count as a goal. You can kick pass, or pass by knocking the ball with your hand, but you can't pass with your hand. Catching the ball in a mark, a clean catch of a kicked ball, gives you a free, unobstructed kick, so they are a major part of the game, and that's why you check when you see a vid of a good one, and that one seems real to me. :D
A good game... for young fellahs. Wouldn't dream of playing it now. :smileevil: (Was 22-23 when I played it..)
