I picked up the XXL this month with Jay on the cover. He talks about his new album but I haven't read that article yet, I'm saving it for a good toilet party. but I did read the track for track reminiscing of the blue print 2. One producer said this about the song "Renegades" with Eminem; (I wish they'd publish these articles on the net and save me some time..)
"Lenny's: We actually had a record for Em to jump on. I can't remember what it is. But em was like, "Hey, I already got a joint that's hot, & I got a verse on it. I'll do the hook and send it to you to see what you think." Then he sent it. That's why his flow is so retarded on it-- it's his beat, his joint. It was his baby. That was one of the last joints finished for the album, and it was cool, because it didn't have a sample. So we were straight. "These other statements are from young Guru, Em, and jay, I'll just paraphrase the main points and save the typing. Again for you twits, PARAPHRASING.
Young Guru - Jay-z wrote his verse to the Renegades track before listening to Em's verse.
Jay-z - I was dialed into the track, more focused on the idea of the song. & Em got props after the track
Em - (He did a demo of the track with Royce da 5'9, in case you didn't know) I originally did the track with Royce, but got a nod from Jay, so I talked it out with Royce and had Jay jump on it. I was honored. (Em frequently regards Jay-z as the best, along with a few others) We didn't collab on it in person, we did it through two different studios, apart.
I felt the need to post this is up for a few reasons.
1. Blue print is one of the all time great albums of this decade, in my opinion.
2. Renegades is probably one of the best collaboration tracks if a list was ever made. (Again, my opinion)
3. If you had/have any feelings about that album, then you might want to read that article. It's in the October 2009 issue of the XXL as I said at the top. You may be able to find the article online, I couldn't, nor did I look very hard.
