Rap Questions

So a friend of mine is into rapping, and he had a few questions. I don't know much about rap so I figured I could find some answers here. First of all he was looking for good beats, no lyrics, just the beats, anyone know of good places to find some? and secondly he was wondering if its possible to extract the vocals from a song? or do people that do that somehow have a studio copy or something?

As far as the second part goes, I don't think you can extract vocals from an already made .mp3 you just have to find the instrumental version of it, I could be wrong though.

promo's are the best thing for both of these.
On the promo cd should be a copy of the song, the instrumental to the song, and the acapella of the song.

It's near on impossible to separate the music from the vocals on an existing release.

theres a few ways of doin it but its not consistent and its usually not very good

first off for old songs like old soul etc you can sometimes get away with extracting the central channel for easy effective results, but nowdays that usually aint gonna work, i think back then they hard panned shit
heres a really bad, quick example
of another technique using adobe audition.......its not usable but sometimes you get lucky

its really a case of trial and error........there is no accurate 100% ways of doing it

thats if he wants to rap on pro beats.....if he wants some beats by me, thats another story, jus let em know il make him some
