I envy every person who can draw. It amazes me. I myself am a worthless artist, I am not exaggerating one bit. My question is, is it possible to learn how to draw, because it seems like a natural talent to me. And if it is possible, how would you go about it

i would think its more a natural talent.. but i guess by studying countless pieces of drawings and art and maybe attending classes you might pull it off..
edit: im completey shit at drawing myself.. so yeah lol

Drawing is lot of practice, not natural talent. I first startet "really" drawing a couple of years ago becaouse of the school I'm at. After reading some books and watching videos I've become okay. I got the fundementals so all I need to do now is... practice, practice, practice.
I can really recommend getting The Structure of Man DVDs (http://the-structure-of-man.blogspot.com/). One of the better purchases I've done.

You're welcome.
Understanding anatomy will help you a lot no matter what your interest in drawing is (portraits, comics, cartoons).

with drawing characters it is important to realise that you don't simply start drawing the completed character. you start by building the shape up using basic shapes and then you gradually change and add more detail until the finished product is reached
also, i don't think anybody is bad at drawing, i just think everyone has their own style and has strength in drawing different things
i recommend a couple of episodes of bob ross' "the joy of painting", to see how easily good art can be made. bob makes pretty much a masterpiece every episode in around 25 mins (no editing of the videos either, that is how long it takes him, he shows every step!)

Yeah, you can LEARN anything. I'm not bad at drawing, but I still study various other things to help further me along. If you have friends who are good at drawing, that's a good start. Get hands on with it. It's all trial and error.

It's a good start. If you've got like any "fine art" shops around your area, they usually offer lessons too. Now, I'm not sure how much they cost, but they can help you a great deal.

Where abouts in Indiana do you live? Cause next month I'm going to "Cocomo" and Indianapolis. If you're close to either of those, I'll check around for you. Cause I'm into that shit myself. Or I can ask my friends that live in those areas.
