My suggestion is to not have the actual links for a request placed within the request post.
It might make for a cleaner database of links for music/movies etc if the links for a request are put in their proper download section.
Then the address to that new thread could be placed in the request post.

This would keep from having links for dl spread throughout the db.
While the cleanup of the db would be a chore, I think it might make for a better site.

Just my two cents.

Example:
Request post:

This is been previously discussed, the consensus was that it was not that necessary to do this. Members seeking any item can simply use the search feature and that will present a list of threads/posts where the item can be found.

okey dokey.

I'll happily work within the system that is at hand. :-)

I know for those who suffer from OCD find our system hard. They want to sort things out and shuffle around all those posts in numerical order, by size, by bit rate and by the number of ones in an album cover.

We keep this system because we know it drive them nuts

But what about those that like to browse the shelves rather than collect things from a shopping list? There's a chance they could be missing out.

Other option would be to have a index list...but this would be a rather labor intensive list to keep updated....so not a likely course of action...so likely will just have to spend a little time to look at each post and go from there.

The search function works well for both the shopper or the browser.

I don't see a problem with it personally, I mean, shit, if you want to fill a request by doing so then go for it, I guess it just makes you the individual instead of going with the flock.

I don't see why this can't be done for those that want to do it (regardless of the search feature) after all, it is a forum, you pretty much have freedom to post and it is not going to affect anything really... just my 2 cents. :)

I agree shifted, if a person wants to post in the particular genre and then link back to the request post, thats fine.

It's up to the individual as to what style they wish to adopt.

I'm just appreciative and grateful that people take the time and effort to respond to members requests.

It's all good :)
