Recently I've gotten into punk rock like Rise Against, and I don't know much about the genre. Can someone recommend some good punk rock that I might like?

Rise against pretty much rules. You'd probably like Propogandhi as well.

Knowing that you tend to like weird music, try listening to Trophy Scars's Hospital Music for the Aesthetics of Language, it's uploaded in their discography thread.

Oh, and try some of the more obvious ones like Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion.

I don't know if you've tried Emo (as in emotional hardcore, not pop-punk) yet. If you haven't, definately look into City of Caterpillar, Circle Takes The Square, Hot Cross, the Kidcrash, etc.

Ska would probably be worth checking into. Streetlight Manifesto and Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution are pretty much required.

That's pretty much all the punk I know, however; I never really tried getting into the genre too much.

If your interested in older or classic punk I can lead you in the right direction. I'm not too familiar with the newer punk.

I've never really liked Rise Against but I'll try recommending some anyways.
Propagandhi is a must, their new album Supporting Caste rules.
Try: Strike Anywhere, Crime In Stereo, Daggermouth, Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, Polar Bear Club, The Descendents, Hot Water Music, The Gaslight Anthem, The Loved Ones...

Me too. I wouldn't know what passes for punk these days either, but Stiff Little Fingers are still going strong and put out an album last October. "Live and Loud!/ Fly The Flags" is a damn good album. :^_^:

I've just uploaded this new compilation album from Rough Trade. There's some good stuff in there too..
