Right, as of now there is little to no (well, just no) discussion about the world's most popular league of the world's most popular sport.

I propose this thread as a place for those with an interest in English football to come out and show themselves, and discuss anything that takes their fancy.

Capiche?

Cairn a Goonerz...!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Actually mate. I dunno shit. A good pal of mine is a hard core United fan, (born in Oldham), so I just pick Arsenal to piss him off...:evil2:

You pick your arse?

Okay, that's dramatically off-topic. I know a lot of Aussies into the sport follow a team from the EPL, as well as one from their own A-League. Does it curry similar favour with your bunch?

The Wellington Phoenix are New Zealand's contribution to the Aussie A League, and although they do have a good following in Wellington, I'd say most kiwi football (ie soccer) fans follow European comps. Mostly the British leagues, but Series A and the Dutch league are widely reported here, and most games are broadcast live.

You have to remember NZ is world central for Rugby, both codes, and, unlike Oz, immigrants that come here inevitably get caught up in it. We have neighbours, a family who arrived from Mali about a year ago. They always invited the hood to giant soccer matches on their front lawn on Sundays. They're out there today with a Rugby ball. Soccer is a summer sport downunder, (and as it's Autumn, the Rugby season has begun,) but it does show you how hard it is to avoid Rugby here.

...Does have curry similar favour with your bunch?

Yup, I do like the odd chicken korma meself, the missus prefers butter chicken, but most of our bunch, (especially the Indian ones).. are quite partial to curry... :evil3:

Didn't realise the A-League covered NZ as well. Makes sense though, come to think of it. I kinda know exactly what you're talking about with the rugby though. I've been living in Wales for the last 18 months, and rugby is the sport here over football. That can make it kinda annoying to find a pub where I can watch the (EPL) football sometimes, and it's makes it a massive pub-to-pub trek to find somewhere when tournaments like the six-nations is being played.

Oh, and korma? You fucking wuss, lol. That barely qualifies as a curry.

Liverpool donked United this morning.... bwahaha... I love it... :excited:

Curry's? I guess you'd be into vindaloo's and rogan josh's and jaalfrazee and all those other bloody pommy raj inventions.

I like the trad stuff, korma's, saagwala's, kadai's, achaari's and such. Fijian Indians do an awesome fish malabari with coconut cream instead of dairy cream. On account of my lung transplant I can't eat prawns any more, but Fijian Prawn Malabari is awesome if you ever come across it. Love Indian.... and Mexican, Thai's not bad... some nice African restaurants in Aucks, and Afrikaans barbie restaurants.. love bloody food to tell you the truth. :evil2:

Can we take this wonderful curry discussion to a new thread? Don't wanna mess up my lovely football thread that noone's gonna post in now do we?

Anyway, apparently a bet on Ronaldo to score first, and Liverpool to win 4-1 would ave fetch odds at the bookies of around 1000-1. Surely noone made that bet though?

Yeah, I heard about it on another forum. Caught a clip of it on Youtube, though - made me lol. As usual, the PC brigade were out in force in the aftermath. Why don't they just piss off.

It's two pacy strikers that have now made a mess of Vidic somewhat in the last week. For periods of the game against Newcastle, Martins gave him problems, and Torres absolutely raped him this weekend.

I still think the title is United's to throw away though.

Season's drawing to a close now. Barely any value in discussing the top, with the exact order of the top six looking extremely unlikely to change. So the only things to be settled are the last European place (gosh, how interesting!!) and the relegation battle which certainly is interesting.

And I, unfortunately, have an active interest in it.

So people, with three games left, who's going down?

I'm so happy that Stoke won today, so happy. If we beat Boro on Monday, all we need to do is match the points output of the other teams to be safe on goal difference. :D

WBA, Boro, and 'ull to go down. Even if it's on GD, or even GS, I couldn't give a flying fuck.

Don't really have a fav. team in England, but i got love for Arsenal just because of Bergkamp and now Van Persie. Two of my fav alltime players. But yeah, i don't really follow leagues other than the Dutch one, do watch the occasional international match though.
