Say if I purchase the ability to have premium downloading say off of megaupload, will that work for the other upload sites or just that one in particular?

The premium account will only work with the particular site you purchased it from.
Megaupload >>> Megaupload
Rapidshare >>>>> Rapidshare
etc etc

i wish they would switch their revenue to ad format instead of paid memberships.
sites like theirs could land huge advertising deals with big companies; instead they charge the user. doesnt make sense =(

Yeah, that's my thoughts on it too.

I think because the majority of traffic that is put through download sites is basically pirated music and films, major companies would not want to be aligned with that sort of image.

So, I thought this over and I just have a question. Which site(s) do you use the most? MegaUpload or RapidShare? Or whatever other paysites that there are? Because if you use one more frequently than the other, I'd buy that one. Or, you could just buy both, since they're both cheap as fuck. Lol.

That's that I thought too. The basic idea around hosting sites is for users to have a place to hold all the information that they can take from place to place, it was supposed to be convenient, but soon it turned into a place to hold shared music, and I think everyone knows that. You would never see a ******* like Coke or Pepsi running ads on MegaUpload, or Rapidshare.
I use Mediafire to upload all my stuff, it's quick and free and has an awesome interference.

Mediafire's great but RS & MU let you upload a lot larger files. There's pro's and con's to all of them. I prefer a wide variety of hosts to be used, so if I want to dl several things at once or in a short period of time I dont have to deal with the waiting period in between.
I don't have any premium accounts and don't plan to ever purchase one. For a cheapskate freeloading pirate like myself having several options for any one particular album/app/whatever is the ideal scenario.
