Auckland, New Zealand, City of Sails, and Queen's City of Polynesia.

Pop 1.4 million. 62% Pakeha(White New Zealanders) and other Europeans, 32% Polynesian/Maori, 20% Chinese, 18% Indian, (Subcontinent & Fiji) 12% Other Asian, 14% Other, (African, Arab etc.) No... the figures don't add up to 100% 'cause we can't keep our hands off each other and we're all dirty race mixers...

And a few thousand cows. We regard mountains as sacred and you can't build on them, so we let cows and sheep graze on them. Auckland is built on 64 volcanos, so there is plenty of room for de animals..
We are an isthmus between two oceans, the Pacific and the Tasman. It's like an island pinched North and South by land bridges to the rest of the North Island, both only about 400 metres wide. The City now spread way beyond those two land bridges. Auckland has the highest ratio of boat ownership of any city in the world.

This is Mission Bay and is about 2 kilometres from Downtown. The island in the background is 'Rangitoto' (Sky of Blood), and is the last volcano to erupt in Auckland, about 400 years ago. It is also a symbol of Auckland and often appears on logos.. like the Auckland Blues Rugby team..

Our harbour bridge. Longer than Sydney's but only six lanes of road traffic. No trains or pedestrian access.

Not quite Sydney on New Years eve, but we've always been a bit more reserved than those noisy bastards across the Tasman.
