Cannibal Corpse is some of the most generic death metal in existence. If you want some good death metal, try some Arghoslent, Vital Remains, Nile, Gorod, Death, Cynic, Atheist, Opeth, etc.

I don't particularly care for It Dies Today, and none of the Death Metal I mentioned is generic in the slightest...

It Dies Today isn't even the same genre, they are metalcore. If you are looking for metalcore, try Converge, Botch, Misery Signals, Between the Buried and Me, Unearth, and post-Define the Great Line Underoath. IMO metalcore isn't really worth getting into for the most part. So much garbage...

'Genre' is the result of us dumb humans trying to pigeon hole things that shouldn't be, and is at best an approximation. That drones on forums would diss you for saying something doesn't make it wrong. You also have the problem that hardcore is an adjective, not a noun. It's a bit like alternative.... alternative to what? I'm a Hendrix freak, and in that context I am fucken hardcore man..... believe it !!!! :afro:
