I am an avid collector of NES/SNES/N64/Sega Master System/ any and all games I can get my hands on when I can afford it. I have a bit of a collection that I will post once I find a way to organise it all nicely. :)
What I am wondering is, is there anyone else out here that has a collection of Tha Ol' Skool stuff?
I just bought two NES R.O.B.s from the 1980's and am looking at a third. lol
I will post up a list of my games and such later. If there is sufficient interest from other members on these boards that also like the old stuff. :)
My question is though..
1.) You know your Sega Master System game covers? How they have the plastic casing and the plastic see-through bit on the front of it that houses the cover?
-> How do they fix that onto the plastic casing? Is it some type of glue? I want to work out a different method before I get stuck into my favourite tool. Loctite 406. lol That shit is fire! But it leaves white residue on plastic so want to try something else..
2.) I have found many modded NES and the like on youtube. Be it paint job or whatever. I am interested in this paintjob idea.. anyone done it themselves? I have a few spare systems lying around that could use a little touch up to make them all killa vanilla.
Cheers. :D

Just worked out my answer to fixing the game cases..
If you have a look at them, the Sega ones looked like they had a hot iron press placed on them to "glue" both plastics together.. reciprocate this through an iron and wallah! You have fixed your covers. xD
And, if you do it right and well enough, they look brand new!

-> R.O.B. [x2]
-> Satellite
-> FourScore
* SNES:
-> SuperScope [x2]
-> GameBoy Adaptor
* Sega Master System/II:
-> LightPhaser

I am in the process of getting a couple more attachments for the NES & Sega Master System [Particularly the 3D glasses.]
:)
I will post up my games later.. But to let you know roughly.. 30x NES, 45x Sega, 15x SNES, 15x N64, 3x GC, 10x Wii, 19x PS3, 50x PS2, 2x X-Box 360, 3x Gameboy [SNES Adaptor] and a stack of others..

I picked up MC: LA for $50, Condemned 2 for $30 in PS3.
I also picked up Sly 2 - Band Of Thieves for $27 on PS2.
Oh, and Chuck Rock 2 on the Sega Master System II for $13.

- Atari (that the one with a button and a joystick) w/ pong, some cannon game and some other well old skool green shit.
- NES - fav games were all marios, specially Mario 2, Turtles, The simpsons game
i also had a game genie for this :):)
- Game boy
- SNES came with fucking, Mario Paint. lol. some pretty slick games for this console, MK, Mario Cart etc.... Uni Rally a top game from this era
- Colour Games boys (about 10 of them)
- Playstation
- PS2
- PS3
- ? who knows what comes next.
i sold a whole bunch of my ps2 games when i got ps3 and i sold one of my old ps2 consoles, i had 2 for some bizarre reason. other than that i still have ALL my old games... i used to break out the NES once in a while and hammer out all the old Marios, but now i have a bunch of emulators which i have all the marios on (i think it came off this forum actually) and that gets a rinse every now and then.... ahhh retro.

@Rasaq; eBay rarely has a PAL Sega Dreamcast with games & accessories for sale. America may be different, but it is NTSC and useless to me...
@Xeno... the best thing I saw before was a NES system with like, 70 boxed games, controllers etc. but it went for well over $500...
You can find unboxed games (but these are no good for serious collectors - but for me are great cos otherwise it would be too expensive lol) but the cheapest way to get them is in a pack, you can find cheaper ones, but don't expect to pay less than $100 per 10-12 games (but this is stuff that has been taken care of, cleaned, tested etc. with a console + accessories of some sort) and most at this price will have their blinking fixed (new 72 pin connector, though easy and cheap to rectify yourself) oh, and the price I am quoting is for those games that EVERYONE wants. ;)
I have a whole bunch of PAL NES systems, NES2, SNES, etc. etc. so if you need any help, let me know, I will try my best. :)
I am going to open my mail right now, another game just arrived. :D
PS. To clean the games is easy (a little scrub and they are like new, I clean my own) just a little JIF with Ear Buds and a rub over of the contacts with some methylated spirits works wonders, nice and shiny, and inexpensive.

i heard before that australia is very strict in regards to computer games?
like they ban a lot of 18 games and in some places WOW is banned?
and on top of that they are very very expensive????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????
shifted
13th-July-2009, 03:39 PM
Australia does not have an R18+ rating for video games, where as they do for movies. This causes a complication (which was shown with the release of Manhunt, Manhunt 2, GTA:IV, and I think the newest one was Far Cry or something like that) because if the game cannot be "toned" down to suit an MA15+ rating, it is banned from sale (and so I jump onto eBay to get a PAL version from the UK, where as PS3, being region free, I get it from wherever I need to) however, if it is toned down, then we get shafted with an effectively, incomplete game.
WOW I have never heard of being banned, if you go to any internet gaming shop (most are in Asian areas of the city) everyone is playing WOW, it is not something I go to, I personally do not play PC games and they are of no interest to me, also, I don't want to stay all day in a shop that stinks of sweat and such, it is quite disgusting really.
The games here, are most of the time expensive (unless you find a good deal, or you find stock take gear). The thing is, we get charged for most new games (PS3) at $120AUD or above. Rarely close to $100. Wii is about $80 to $100. We do pay more for new games, and unfortunately, companies have come out and said when questioned why we pay more, that they have no reason to drop it. The people are so used to paying more for their games that they expect it, so they milk us effectively. But, I do buy my PS3 games off eBay unless I find them cheap around the place. I picked up MC:LA for $50, and Haze for $30 a while ago. So you do have to shop around, or you get done. Also, buying the game the day it is released fucks you over too.
Though, I did pre-order Assassin's Creed II - Black Edition for the PS3, but that was a no choice thing. Though it will cost $150.
With the retro stuff, the gear here tends to hold its value, at least, to those that know what they have (but a quick eBay search should be enough to teach you) unless you get lucky and someone forgets to bid so you pick up something cheap, otherwise, some stuff does get fairly expensive, fairly quickly.
I tend to find region free games (Sega Master System & PS3 for instance) from overseas to be cheaper (including postage) sometimes, so you do have to look around. I picked up Chuck Rock II for the SMS from the UK for $13 including postage, everywhere else was paying $25 - $30, for games in worse condition, I know, cos I bought one beforehand! (The dick selling it had a poor picture but assured the condition was near mint. Fucken wanker!) But yeah, you just gotta be careful who you buy from, and make sure you read the feedback. ANY feedback saying stuff not received, or never posted, stay away from the buyer. I learned the hard way, another wanker.
All in all, search around, sometimes you can find stuff cheaper in your local advertising magazine (we have the Quokka) but places like CashConverters expect you to pay more for retro stuff, so you gotta be careful...
I have gotten some absolute bargains though at times from eBay and various outlets...
I will be putting for sale soon, a collection of 3 SMS systems, controllers, cables, and just over 35 games or 40 games or something. All spare stuff that did not fit my collection.
I will post up pics of my collection later on sometime. ;)
Oh, P.S. - The people in Aus are catching onto the retro craze, and some people sell games for well over $100 a pop, so you gotta make sure you look around. 10 games @ $100 a pop, or hopefully, and possible, 100 games for $10 each, which can be done and found. ;)

You have the Sega era of Alex Kidd, Sonic, Asterix & Obelix, Taz-Mania, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Y's etc.
Nintendo has Zelda, Mario, Yoshi, Kid Icarus, Ufouria, Donkey Kong etc.
PlayStation brings about the English variants of Final Fantasy, you have Gran Turismo, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid etc.
There are plenty to choose from. :)
What do you think??
I just traded in some gear in shit condition or in non-english languages for a bunch of games to place into the collection. I was quite happy with what I got.

i loved the old games as a kid, my dad loved games and still does so he had a SNES, sega, and the regular NES when i was a kid so i used to those all the time, i was a game freak, still am. the point of this story is to say. i cant classify new games with older games. i dont want to just say the older games are not as good, i would rather put them in their own catagories. because right now if i go back the older games are only gonna occupy me for so long then im bored, the new games occupy me longer and are more entertaining.
list of top 9
older games(no order) games i had most fun with
super mario all stars( yes ill cheat and say this)
yoshi's island
combatribes
super street fighter 2
mortal kombat ultimate
donkey kong country
arkanoid-doh it again(this game probably has the most time on it since ive had 360, very fun co-op game)
DOOM
sonic
honorary mention
vectorman 2
boogerman
killer instinct
super mario kart
super punchout
that was hard. there is probably so much im missing that i forgot, mega you never got into mario like you never liked it? or didnt have the game so you didnt get to play it much? because the mario's are some of my favorite and to me some of the most entertaining just get a friend and play some drunk co-op. but if im playing one player i would choose yoshi's island that game is just the bomb.
oh i got an emulator for the original xbox which allows me to play games on most of the old systems, i have on the emulator NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega Master System, Turbografx 16, Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, MSX, MSX 2 and a few old hand held emulators.
can anyone suggest some good games for the SNES? or any other systems? just not sega its acting up.
shifted your the man for collecting all of this stuff. you might have just got me back into the older games. havnt played in a couple months im about to play street fighter alpha two.

@greddie, I hear that game is good, I have yet to get it. I am focusing on SEGA for myself at the moment lol, but I will get there. Any other games you recommend?
@Kenshi, I am not too much into the Nintendo gear of any sort, but I do collect them simply for their value, playability and the fact that all my mates played Nintendo, so often we end up playing Mario or something anyway.
Some of the games I do have though, which I got because of various recommendations on the SNES are:
-> Donkey Kong Country (1, 2 & 3)
-> Super Mario World (1 & 2)
-> Super Mario All-Stars
-> Killer Instinct
-> Wario's Woods
-> Asterix
-> Mario Kart
-> Zelda - A Link To The Past
I can't remember the rest to be honest, it has been a very long week.... I will get back to ya. :)

I was a nintendo champion for the city i live in way back in 1984. I also wrote and was considered by many to be the foremost expert on the original Legend of Zelda (1986 i think) I have a PS3 now, but i totally suck at most games now!
