mrsour
4th-January-2008, 05:15 AM

mrsour
4th-January-2008, 05:36 AM
nice, im currently listening to them, from the first song it reminds me of underoath in "they are only chasing safety" cd and i see your from michigan i used to go to a lot of shows at skunks nest...you ever go there?
schloss21
4th-January-2008, 05:42 AM
nope, i've never been to skunks nest. it's a ways form where i live. i'm in the part of michigan that noone has ever heard of basically. haha
mrsour
4th-January-2008, 05:47 AM
ha jw.
so now i feel kinda dumb because none of the other songs reminded me of underoath. the one that did was let your body take over. but yeah all and all i like them. and am liking that this thread is getting some attention haha

I'll go through my iPod and my computer either tonight or tomorrow and post some more bands cause i have a ton of bands like that are sort of pop punkish with breakdowns. i hope you enjoy those other bands that i just suggested and if you like them i believe that i posted their albums on this forum under the rock section and i might've also posted them on the main site.
schloss21
9th-January-2008, 04:41 AM

Goodbye Soundscape
Sparks The Rescue
Protest The Hero
Let me know what you think of those and then I will post some more good bands that I have recently come across. and like i said, if you like any of it and want there albums i'll up what i have.
(some of these aren't exactly pop punk with breakdowns but i think that you will still like what you hear)
schloss21
9th-January-2008, 05:55 AM
I am working on uploading some of this right now. i will have them posted in the music section sometime tomorrow.
mrsour
12th-January-2008, 03:30 PM
alright so i have heard of about half of them, i'll start checking them out now
mrsour
12th-January-2008, 04:25 PM
So after going through the ones i hadn't heard of i liked karate high school the most, but i also liked
sparks the rescue
goodbye soundscape
memphis may fire
knives exchaning hands
You went in a harder direction with some of them, so i will post the bands with some of my favorite breakdowns and up the albums tonight. Thanks for your input
schloss21
12th-January-2008, 05:39 PM
yeah, i kinda figured after looking at the list again that i was going in a harder direction. that just seems to be where may taste of music is heading because i haven't found any really new bands like the ones you're looking for.
mrsour
12th-January-2008, 05:59 PM
yeah i know exactly what you mean, thats why i started this thread. i was going to put up these bands
bring me the horizon
as blood runs black
zombie gutz
the warriors
stick to your guns
and two local bands that are really good
the unfolding
kingston falls
would you want me to put any of them up?

Actually The Gorgeous is the greatest metalcore...
ha no way
cuad is easily the best of that ilk i have ever heard. i know alot of people quote botch as being the best but honestly, theyre boring in comparison

Botch and Curl Up and die are sweet no doubt, The Gorgeous just always rule in my mind. Maybe that's just me though.
mrsour
13th-January-2008, 08:22 PM
so i put up the albums in the metal section in the gold mine, most of them aren't exactly metal but thats where i put them. Expect some good music with some sweet breakdowns. Enjoy :)
goitalone
13th-January-2008, 11:42 PM
I looked at what you posted. Stick To Your Guns are decent. I've always liked them even though a lot of people hate on them, their songs are pretty catchy although they're kind of overrated. I've always hated Bring Me The Horizon, they just piss me off. Suicide Silence EP is way better than The Cleansing in my opinion. But pretty good picks I guess if you're into it.
mrsour
13th-January-2008, 11:48 PM
thanks, stick to your guns is very catchy, why the beef with bmth? I dont have the suicide silence ep, but i like the cleansing, what do you think of the warriors? You should also check out the local band i put up the unfolding
goitalone
14th-January-2008, 12:16 AM
I don't know where my bias came from but I've never been able to get into bmth. I'm definitely a long time fan of the warriors. The unfolding are pretty decent.
If you haven't already, check out the gorgeous - they rule (if I haven't made it clear enough how into them I am already in this thread)
mrsour
14th-January-2008, 12:38 AM
yeah, i liked the warriors first cd the best, and i will check out your band ha. i have some pretty high expectations
goitalone
14th-January-2008, 02:57 AM
They're so good and if you don't like them you're wrong!
...just kidding. But really.
schloss21
14th-January-2008, 04:31 AM
i just downloaded all of those albums that you posted and i'll give you my input on them after i listen to them tomorrow. i would right now but i need to get to bed cause i finally go back to school tomorrow and need to go get stuff ready.

15th-January-2008, 08:11 PM

schloss21
16th-January-2008, 01:07 AM
i just added a ton of new albums to the Rock sub-forum in music. go check them out. i came upon them recently and was actually surprised with how good they are. i still have like 2 more albums to put up once they are done uploading

am I the only one to not understand the "with breakdowns" part?
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:15 PM
are you saying you dont know what breakdowns are, or are you saying that we strayed from pop punk w/ breakdowns, adding some that did not have any?
marko92
19th-January-2008, 04:21 PM
Don't know what breakdowns are.
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:24 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_(music)
try that
also do you have any of the cds we mentioned, because i could give you an example
marko92
19th-January-2008, 04:32 PM
If I understand correctly, a lot of pop-punk songs have breakdowns, don't they? It just seems like what the bridge in a song is.
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:34 PM
maybe, im don't know a whole lot about music, but im looking for the good big ones haha.
have you heard of four year strong? i could give you an example of what im talking about
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:37 PM
if you go to
www.purevolume.com/fouryearstrong
and listen to the song, heroes get remembered but legends never die and right around the 3 minute mark is a great pop punk breakdown
marko92
19th-January-2008, 04:47 PM
I'll check them out now, because I like pop-punk, though I've only heard of a few of the bands mentioned in this thread. A lot of them are american based, so it's hard for me to find new bands.
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:49 PM
yeah, they are def my fav pop punk/ happy hardcore band. i think you will like them
marko92
19th-January-2008, 04:53 PM
How long did the breakdown on that song last, the one you told me to listen to? at about 3 minutes the music changed but then it didn't really change back.
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 04:55 PM
around 3:10 is where it goes back
marko92
19th-January-2008, 05:00 PM
Ah, I see. You guys seem to have mentioned really obscure bands, and I'd feel like a tool if I mentioned popular ones that I know of. They sound really similar to Taking Back Sunday
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 05:03 PM
ha don't worry about that, mention whatever you want, if we have already heard of them big deal, i like tbs although i feel like their cds keep getting a little worse. their first is my favorite.
i also posted some of my favorite hardcore cds with great breakdowns in the metal section of the goldmine if you're interested
marko92
19th-January-2008, 05:13 PM
I'm not really into Metal/Hardcore. The heaviest thing I like would be Atreyu, mainly the album "A death-grip on yesterday". I really have no idea what they did to their new album.
Staying on topic, though. Have you heard of Amber Pacific? They're not known over here, but they're really underrated. Boys Like Girls are pretty cool (I'm seeing them). I like Hit The Lights, though they recently lost their lead singer, not sure what's happened to them. blink-182 are my favourite, though everyone knows of them.
You might like Relient K's album "Mmhmm". I'm saying a specific album, because the others seem to be noticeably softer/lighter than that one, because Four Year Strong seem to be a bit heavier than average pop-punk bands.
goitalone
19th-January-2008, 07:44 PM
hahah Atreyu...
Anyways, check out a good friend of mine's band. Listen to the song That's What She Said.

mrsour
19th-January-2008, 10:48 PM
yeah, im not a huge atreyu fan, i really like amber pacific, i saw them at warp last year, i like boys like girls, and yeah who doesn't like blink they are amazing, i really like hit the lights, some of them went to highschool right by me, and yeah i get into some of relient k stuff, i have seen them as well. if you liked four year strong i would suggest, the wonder years, set your goals, and fight fair.
thanks for your input.
@goitalone i will check them out
mrsour
19th-January-2008, 10:51 PM
not to bad, i like it, talking about greater than giants
marko92
20th-January-2008, 04:24 AM
Also, for pop-punk you can check out all the Fueled by Ramen bands, they're all pretty similar, bar one of them (Gym Class Heroes).
schloss21
20th-January-2008, 04:30 AM
^^agreed. the Fueled by Ramen bands are very good. i have most of there albums. also check out some of the bands from Rise Records. they have some heavier bands but also some good ones. one of which i believe that i mentioned earlier - Before Their Eyes.
goitalone
20th-January-2008, 06:55 AM
Haha aren't Drop Dead Gorgeous signed to Rise Records? They're so shitty, and in no way "heavy." There's really no denying how terrible they really are. Their songs are filled with blatant, meaningless cliches with no subject or meaning at all. So I really hope they're no reflection of what any of the other bands on that record label are because that would be horrible.
I've only ever liked a few fueled by ramen bands. Maybe that's just not my kind of music though.
anna karina
20th-January-2008, 12:35 PM
'heavy' should only be used in regards to bands like sunn0))), earth, electric wizard and so on riiiiiight

Both are decent, all or nothing sound pretty good.
Also, I saw your request thread. Liferuiner...really?
Don't sink to that level!

28th-January-2008, 04:52 AM
hahaha you dont like them? i just got back from seeing them haha whats wrong with them?
goitalone
28th-January-2008, 05:39 AM
When they came here during their set everyone left to get merch. They're such a joke, so fucking bad.
mrsour
28th-January-2008, 05:46 AM
i like them ha its catchy and fun to dance to. yeah they aren't the most skilled by any means, but its a fun show
goitalone
28th-January-2008, 06:54 AM
That's your deal. I just think they're so shitty in so many ways.
