Write the linear equation in function notation. Identify the slope and y-intercept.

3x = -5y + 10

Time to put our thinking caps on and step away from the TV.:tv:

Damn, its been like 5 years since I have done this crap. Isn't the slope -5, and the y-intercept 1.4 or
1 2/5?

Hell I dunno.

It's been longer for me. Try about 15 years. I know you got my pm. I'm in a pickle here and just trying to see if I can get some help.

x=((-5) y+10)/3

You would re-write that as y=(-3)/5x + 2, so you're slope would be -3/5 and your y intercept would be 2

Correct term is gradient, people.

3x = -5y +10
3x + 5y = 10
5y = -3x + 10
y = (-3x + 10) / 5
y = -3/5x + 2

The coefficient of x is the gradient, and the y-intercept is constant.

So if y = ax + b, the gradient is a, and the y-intercept is b.

I've given thanks to all of you. Whether right or wrong. I believe in an "A" for effort at all times. Just wish teachers would think that way.
