I'd read some stuff about Political correctness in Memento's thread here (http://www.albumwash.com/forum/t1031-political-corectness.html)You can discuss it further here; what do you think of political correctness?
On another note, I wanna know what you think of politicians in general, just share your opinions about some stuff..
I want to kick of with something I'm really disturbed by; politicians that blame music/games for everything, for f*ck sake..
Everytime there is a new game; some politicians wanna ban it..
Everytime something happens, politicians blame music(most of the time Hip Hop) and the violence in games(and movies)
The sexualisation of the society, politicians blame video's on television
Someone that murder's someone, politicians blame games/movies..
etc
For example, the situation of Manhunt 2, politicians here in Holland (and in lots of other countries) wanna ban that game, but i bet none of those politicians played the game, so it is really pathetic..
I think politicians (and parents) have to stop blame music/games and stuff and they have to pay attention to the life/education of the kid, that's where the problem is, not the music/games/movies!
Anyway, share your opinion about political correctness, this or other things!

i know where you're coming from. in the USA most people and some politicians do blame the media for a lot of society's problems. which is really true in some cases, but it's stupid to say games are influencing people to murder and blah blah blah. that's just retarded. it may desensitize gamer kids to blood and gore, but what gamer kid IS sensitive to blood and gore in the first place? they wouldn't play if they didn't wanna see that shit. games aren't influencing anyone to do anything they wouldn't already do.
a kid wouldn't go to school and shoot another kid just because they do that in some video game. kids may not know right from wrong but they are responsible for distinguishing between reality and video games... and if they can't do that, that's an entirely different problem.

Exactly!
And @ Anna karina: it's probably a difference between countries, here in Holland we hear it pretty often, from politicians but also from parents and other people..

naw it wasnt that long ago here that a kid killed his friend and it was 'blamed' on games - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/3934277.stm
games enable people to act out things they would never be able to do in real life, and there are some people that fantasize about doing those things in real life
then there are those that actually go do it in real life
it happens
then more recent than that there was a nurse murdered who was on a cig break at a hospital, and im sure there were similar rumbles then that it was premeditated and the guy would act it out in a certain game and then he went and did it for real. i dont remember the specifics of that one so well tho
some people are fucked up thats that
its not only games, its happended due to other media too. its just that games are interactive and hands on
if you were the parent of someone who was murdered and it appeared that a game was a catalyst to this person being pushed over the edge and making the transition from fantasizing about murder to actually doing it, im sure you'd look for a scapegoat too. i know i would

That took alot of thought.
As for violence in games/movies/music, is it viable to believe that there are times that life imitates art?

That took alot of thought.
The opinion takes thought, but the wording is simply cutting through all the BS and getting right to the point.
