I'm really kind of pissed off that T.I.'s new album is at the top of the Billboard 200, and after 1 week sold more than Metallica's in 4 weeks. Metallica is greater than T.I. will ever be, and frankly, I heard that T.I.'s album wasn't that good anyway.
Anyone else feel the same?

Two different genres, two very different opinions mate.
There are a lot of people that would disagree with you completely.
I myself am more a Rap/Hip-Hop fan than a Rock fan, and who knows.. maybe Metallica is just dying out of age mate.. but regardless, it is like comparing apples and oranges.

T.I.'s new album was pretty good.
Metallica was ok.
The thing about Metallica is they didn't advertise that shit at all, I didn't know about it until a week before and fuck radio play, none of that.
That's why.

Well yeah, but people like T.I. advertise for the money. Metallica and other bands don't because they think that their faithful fans will bring them to the top. And it worked for the first 4 weeks.
Radio play? There are absolutely no metal radio stations on Long Island... And most of the other bands I like are underground mostly.
Oh well.

Occasionally there is a diamond in the rough, but usually it gets beat down by commercialism.

Doing well in the charts is enough to put me off anything. Mainstream sucks.

yeah where i come from every station pretty much plays shit. i love hip hop but the mainstream is so horrible i have to listen to rock stations. and even then, the rock stations are starting to go under, no more metal no heavy shit. its all girly shit. i heard "i kissed a girl" but katy perry on a hard rock station. but i dont listen to the radio anyway. only when i drive my dads car cuz he has no cd player. but yeah metallica did not advertise well. i didnt know they had a new cd until this forum. im gonna check it out.

Wal Mart is the way to go for the "old guys." Hey, but I love AC/DC and the Eagles no matter where they put their albums, I'm sure to follow.

Real bands/artists don't give a fuck if they make it to the top of some mainsteam chart, and you shouldn't either. If some underground artist made it big guarranteed the majority of you would stop liking them.
It all boils down to personal opinion, who are you to say Metallica should be selling more than TI just because it's what you're into? Music elitism + bigotry ruulz
Like it was said in the first reply, 2 completely different genres selling to two completely different target markets, and it's ridiculous to compare them. I would consider Metallica as mainstream as metal gets though.
Non-comformity is the new comformity, listen to what you want and stop worrying about what's fucking cool.

Whoa, whoa, uber bump.
This was a while ago, I've since changed, cool your jets. I actually like some TI now and really don't care about lists now.

I'm a total bigot kenshi. As soon as they start making money I tend to go off them and go looking for some new underground shit.
I can accept the talent of the bigstars more these days than I did in my younger days, but gimme the unknown rebels taking risks any day. I hate the music business vehemently. Which is why I love ripping them off. :evil2:
