Modern ballad?

i have an assignment where i have to compare an old, historical ballad (professor gave us a site with a list of ballads to choose from) to a newer ballad, written circa 1965 or later.

anyone have any ideas as to what this modern ballad should be?

Marilyn Manson has some ballads, but I doubt that's the kind you're looking for.
